Research - Day1 of rising

This past week we have created and doubled down on the work for this project. My job within this project is to help research the correct information and facts about the 1916 Rising. At the start of the week, i was unsure of where i stood within the research part of this project. I was unable to fully start as i didn't know the exact details of the project, for example if i was to research the whole rising, only the last few days or the events leading up to the rising.

On Wednesday of this week, our group got together in order to finalise roles within the project and to discuss any problems or issues we had about what we were to do or who was on our mini teams. During the meeting i was able to find out what my main role was and how to go about it and who to go about it with. My research is to based on the first day of the 1916 rising.

For this i've started to research the events that had occurred on the first day of the rising in the town where our character is from. It allows the designers and and production team to create best scenes for the game once they know where its based.

Since this meeting i have been researching non-stop. I have found and taken down some of the main events and reports of what happened throughout the first day.

I've combed through countless websites and wikipedia pages in order to create an accurate timeline of the first day of the rising. Some of the pages and sites have had some conflicting statements when it came to the exact times and places of events, so i had to choose what i felt like were the most accurate statements. I did this by checking the sites and pages that i searched and checked which ones had the same information and/or similar statements. I have also been able to gather images from the rising of the volunteers and army. These will allow the design to have an image of what soldiers and Dublin looked like at the time of the rising.

Ive also researched many youtube videos on the rising in order to gain knowledge on the correct facts and information of the first day.

So far i have over a page or so of timelines for the first day of events that occurred in Dublin.

Game Vision Statement

The name of my game is "Past the Limit". It's a first person driving game where the aim is to beat all competitors in races, in order to win prizes such as new cars and money and become the best in the world. The background for my game comes from the desire to drive fast and show others how powerful the cars the driver owns are. It comes from the perspective of a car mad person who wants to compete in the best competitions in the world and have the title of 'world champion'. In this game, you are the driver. You are the racer. Each race will have one or two laps. The first player to pass over the finish the line will be crowned winner of the race. The more races you win the more money, cars and power you gain. Over time you will build up your reputation and have players want to challenge you for your goods. If the other competitors cross the finish line before you, the game will immediately finish and you will not finish the race and will not gain any prizes.
