Game Vision Statement

The name of my game is "Past the Limit". It's a first person driving game where the aim is to beat all competitors in races, in order to win prizes such as new cars and money and become the best in the world.

The background for my game comes from the desire to drive fast and show others how powerful the cars the driver owns are. It comes from the perspective of a car mad person who wants to compete in the best competitions in the world and have the title of 'world champion'.

In this game, you are the driver. You are the racer. Each race will have one or two laps. The first player to pass over the finish the line will be crowned winner of the race. The more races you win the more money, cars and power you gain. Over time you will build up your reputation and have players want to challenge you for your goods. If the other competitors cross the finish line before you, the game will immediately finish and you will not finish the race and will not gain any prizes.

To play this game, you have to use the arrow keys on your computer in order to drive the car. To brake you will use the space bar.

The genre of my game would be classed as a racing simulation. It would be a modern game based around the country side / villages as there is more road available in those areas.

This game will be built of PC only. Multiplayer could become a feature as the game is developed and we see how the progress of the game is going.

  1. Hey Niamh, This game sounds interesting!, reminds me of mario kart which use to be my favorite game when I was younger. Would be interesting to see what race courses you could make from this game!, They could be inspired by different parts of Dublin or even the campus as a route. Would also be cool if you could customize your car and maybe even the license plate could be "CDM 18" , looking forward to the updates!

  2. Love the game The WOW factor for me is the genre, I feel like the racing genre is almost forgotten about :( You can really explore this whole genre and go as bog and as adventurous as you wish. Nice choice. I like the Name, it's striking and relevant to your genre. I WONDER if you can make the levels vary in size and make the bigger levels have key areas such as a short cut or a massive ramp or sudden Penalties as a big hole in the road. The game would certainly have the potential to be multiplayer-able. This is a cool game idea nice job Niamh.

  3. hi niamh! This game idea is great! i love the whole racing idea as i feel that genre is very old school and timeless. i feel this game will be very appealing to a lot of users as it would be a very simple yet addictive game. the game name is great too as it gives the user a good feeling of that 'need for speed' and being the fastest and best. i look forward to seeing this finished project and testing it out for myself! keep it up

  4. Hi Niamh! I really like the whole concept of your game. Driving car games are always really fun to play because they keep your interest and you have an important purpose throughout the whole game. The setting seems interesting too, the fact you want to have it set in a village or country side so there's more road to drive on is really good and it will make for a pretty game environment overall! You mention that you are the driver, you are the racer. So I'm curious, would you be trying to beat your own record every time you play? And what about at the beginning, will there be a record set by default that you have to beat just to get started? That could be cool! Or you could maybe win a 'special' car every time you win a race? Anyway, Really enjoyed reading your ideas and best of luck with the project!
