Feedback Thoughts

Feedback is information about reactions to a product, a persons performance of a task, etc which is used as a basis for improvement. I recently just read two very interesting articles on feedback and how it helps a person improve on issues but also why it can hurt us.

The first article i read was called "Why rejection hurts so much - and what to do about it" by Guy Winch.  I really enjoyed this article because we've all experienced rejection in our lives, whether it be small or big it affects each and every one of us. In this article Guy Winch gives us three steps we should take in order to reject rejection and not let it hurt us as much as it would. It tells us not to self critique ourselves, know our worth as human beings and to boost our social connection with friends and family which will help boost our confidence. I agree with this article as we cant let negative feedback from someone affect us as much as it does. Life is too short for that kind of stuff.

The second article i read was called "Seven ways to crush self-doubt in creative work" by John Spencer. This article states how to move past the self-doubt many people have when it comes to creating a project or going to a new job. Although it says "creative work", it could be also used in everyday life. Many people in life, including myself doubt ourselves everyday and it stops us from reaching our full potential in college, work and life itself. With this article, the steps given are helpful. It talks about how we shouldn't compare ourselves to others, don't strive for perfection and create goals that are in our reach. That's just three of the seven steps given in the article. I do think this can help myself and many others like me.

Feedback in general can either be positive or negative. Its how you take the feedback that will determine how things turn out. In my lifetime, i've definitely had both and i've also handled them both differently. When it comes to football you have to take all the feedback whether it be negative or positive and use it to come back in the next match better and stronger. Feedback benefits us even if we don't realise it at the time.
